Rabbi Maurice Harris
Maurice D. Harris is a rabbi, writer, and teacher living in Eugene, Oregon. He was ordained at the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in 2003, and served as Associate Rabbi and Head of School at Temple Beth Israel in Eugene from 2003 - 2011. Currently he teaches courses as an Adjunct Instructor at the University of Oregon, via the Harold Schnitzer Family Program in Judaic Studies. Rabbi Harris also does adult education with Jewish and interfaith groups, and he is available to travel and teach on a range of subjects.
His essays and op-eds have appeared in Jewish Currents magazine; PresenTense magazine; Peacebuilder magazine; the Register-Guard; the Oregonian, the Texas Jewish Post; the Kansas City Jewish Chronicle; Washington Jewish Week; the Florida Jewish Journal; the Palestine-Israel Journal of Politics, Economics, and Culture; & the Jewish News of Greater Phoenix.
His second book was published in August, 2013. It's called Leviticus: You Have No Idea, and you can see more about it here . Rabbi Harris is married to Melissa Crabbe, who works as the Assistant National Director of the Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program. They have two children, Clarice and Hunter, a pit bull / lab mix named Sparky, and a sweet aging cat, Mister M.
